Where will the program take place? The program will be held in Valladolid, the capital of the Community of Castilla y Leon, 2 hours North of Madrid.
The city has 300,000 inhabitants, but the downtown area is relatively small. The majority of the activities will be held within walking distance of the accommodation facility. The city offers many amenities: parks, museums, restaurants, theater, galleries, shopping areas and even a beach by the river. It has a very active cultural life and during the summer there are many special concerts and performances. It is famous for its cuisine, and, in the area there are many local wineries that produce the top class wines of Ribera del Duero.

Depending on the number of family members, the apartments may have one, two or three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and bathroom. This allows the family to spend time together, to cook their preferred meals and maintain their usual schedule.
The apartments are all in the same building, in a pedestrian area, right in the heart of the old town, within walking distance of the main square and many of the main sites of the city, shopping areas, deli shops, restaurants and an open air market.
Where will the classes take place? We will use fully equipped classrooms and meeting rooms in an academic facility with everything we may need for our program. It is located about 15 minutes away from the apartments, very near some of the city’s main monuments and sites.
There may be other groups using the same facility, but in separate programs.
Who will be the teachers? The program is organized by Language Programs, which has been providing language services for nearly ten years. It provides company classes, both at the headquarters of the firms and over the phone. It has offered programs in Valladolid for the last five years.
The program will be hosted by ESCUL, an academic center that offers language training and technical courses for teenagers and adults.
All the teachers are university graduates and many of them hold Master’s degrees. The Spanish teachers also hold a special certification in the teaching of Spanish as a foreign language.
The program coordinator has over 30 years of professional experience in the fields of foreign language, early education and multicultural education. He is the author of several books for teachers and is a featured speaker in international conferences every year. He has hosted numerous study abroad programs from different countries, both for children and for adults.
The curriculum for this program will be designed according to the prescriptions of the Spanish Workshop for Children so as to build on what the children already know and to ease their integration in the program in the U.S. upon return. As for the adults, the program will focus mainly on oral communication and will provide parents with some tools to reinforce what their children are learning in their Spanish classes.
